HKKEMA together with PT101 Fitness and Hygge Living Rehabilitation Centre (Tsuen Wan) , co-organized the “Stay Energetic Stay Young” on 22 March 2025.
The event attracted more than one hundred elderly people to participate. The elderly not only learned home exercise skills, but also received professional health advice from registered orthopedic surgeon Dr. Joseph Jeremy Chang and registered dietician Ms. Joanne Chan, which further enhanced their health awareness.
The event is themed “Stay Energetic Stay Young” and aims to encourage the elderly to develop a habit of regular exercise and promote a healthy lifestyle. The activities are rich and diverse, including:
1. Home exercise instruction: 8 professional fitness coaches from PT101 Fitness will personally instruct the elderly on appropriate home exercises, teach the correct posture and exercise intensity, and help the elderly strengthen their core muscles and prevent falls and injuries.
2. Sharing by orthopedic surgeon: Dr. Joseph Jeremy Chang, a registered orthopedic surgeon, explains the causes and prevention methods of osteoporosis and bone degeneration, and provides practical daily care suggestions. The doctor also held an interactive Q&A session with the elders, answering many questions about bone health.
3. Nutritionist’s Healthy Diet Seminar: Registered dietitian Ms. Joanne Chan shared healthy eating habits suitable for the elderly, emphasized the importance of a balanced diet for bone health and overall vitality, and provided healthy recipes that are easy to make.
4. “KnitWarm” Demonstration: Local innovative technology company “KnitWarm” showcased its heating textiles invented and manufactured in Hong Kong, allowing the elderly to experience firsthand how technology can improve their quality of life. KnitWarm’s products are especially suitable for the elderly to use in cold weather. They can keep warm and promote blood circulation, and are very popular among the elderly on site.
In the event, celebrity guests supported the promotion of community health. The event invited Mr. Peter Hui, Chairman of HKKEMA, Member of the Legislative Council, Hon. Tik Chi Yuen and Hon. Luk Hon Man, Benson, to attend. Mr. Peter Hui said in his speech: “Exercise is vital to the health of the elderly. We hope that through this event, more elderly people will understand the benefits of exercise and promote a healthy lifestyle in the community.” The elderly who participated in the event responded enthusiastically.
