15 April 2025 Visit to HKRITA “Open Lab”

HKKEMA co-organized with Hong Kong Intimate Apparel Industries’ Association (HKIAIA), Hong Kong Woollen & Synthetic Knitting Manufacturers’ Association (HKWSKMA), and Knitwear Innovation and Design Society (KIDS) to visit to HKRITA “Open Lab” on 15 April 2025.
Participants toured and reviewed the research project exhibits at Open Lab to understand sustainable projects in the textile and fashion industry and exchange insights and challenges of the sustainability in this industry.

1 May 2025 “Young Knitwear Designers’ Contest 2025” is Calling for Entries!

Co-organised by Knitwear Innovation and Design Society (KIDS), Hongkong Knitwear Exporters & Manufacturers Association (HKKEMA) and Hong Kong Woollen & Synthetic Knitting Manufacturers’ Association (HKWSKMA), the “Young Knitwear Designers’ Contest 2025” is now open to fashion students and designers aged between 18 and 35 from the GBA Area.

Candidates are required to design 8 sets of knitwear outfit. The 10 finalists will be able to showcase their designs in fashion shows and exhibitions at international fashion events in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, and be given the chance to sell their knitwear designs on online and offline sales platforms. The cash prizes of the contest are worth more than HK$50,000, while the winners will enjoy a free study trip to Seoul, Korea.

22 March 2025 Stay Energetic Stay Young

HKKEMA together with PT101 Fitness and Hygge Living Rehabilitation Centre (Tsuen Wan) , co-organized the “Stay Energetic Stay Young” on 22 March 2025.

The event attracted more than one hundred elderly people to participate. The elderly not only learned home exercise skills, but also received professional health advice from registered orthopedic surgeon Dr. Joseph Jeremy Chang and registered dietician Ms. Joanne Chan, which further enhanced their health awareness.

The event is themed “Stay Energetic Stay Young” and aims to encourage the elderly to develop a habit of regular exercise and promote a healthy lifestyle. The activities are rich and diverse, including:
1. Home exercise instruction: 8 professional fitness coaches from PT101 Fitness will personally instruct the elderly on appropriate home exercises, teach the correct posture and exercise intensity, and help the elderly strengthen their core muscles and prevent falls and injuries.
2. Sharing by orthopedic surgeon: Dr. Joseph Jeremy Chang, a registered orthopedic surgeon, explains the causes and prevention methods of osteoporosis and bone degeneration, and provides practical daily care suggestions. The doctor also held an interactive Q&A session with the elders, answering many questions about bone health.
3. Nutritionist’s Healthy Diet Seminar: Registered dietitian Ms. Joanne Chan shared healthy eating habits suitable for the elderly, emphasized the importance of a balanced diet for bone health and overall vitality, and provided healthy recipes that are easy to make.
4. “KnitWarm” Demonstration: Local innovative technology company “KnitWarm” showcased its heating textiles invented and manufactured in Hong Kong, allowing the elderly to experience firsthand how technology can improve their quality of life. KnitWarm’s products are especially suitable for the elderly to use in cold weather. They can keep warm and promote blood circulation, and are very popular among the elderly on site.
In the event, celebrity guests supported the promotion of community health. The event invited Mr. Peter Hui, Chairman of HKKEMA, Member of the Legislative Council, Hon. Tik Chi Yuen and Hon. Luk Hon Man, Benson, to attend. Mr. Peter Hui said in his speech: “Exercise is vital to the health of the elderly. We hope that through this event, more elderly people will understand the benefits of exercise and promote a healthy lifestyle in the community.” The elderly who participated in the event responded enthusiastically. The event was effective, and the content was practical and close to life, allowing them to learn a lot about exercise, diet, and bone health.

20 March 2025 Spring Dinner 2025

HKKEMA together with the Hong Kong Woollen & Synthetic Knitting Manufacturers’ Association (HKWSKMA) and the Knitwear Innovation and Design Society (KIDS), co-organized the “Spring Dinner 2025″ on 20 March 2025 at Hotel ICON. This spring dinner is the second time that the three associations jointly held the Spring Dinner and cooperated in the industry.

We are honored to invite Ms. SUM Fong Kwang, Vivian, JP, Permanent Secretary of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau and Mr. Victor Tsang of the Commissioner for Cultural and Creative Industries to attend the dinner.

The dinner invited Mr. Peter Hui, Chairman of the HKKEMA and KIDS, and Mr. Roger Chan, Chairman of the HKWSKMA, to share the review of the three associations’ activities and look forward to the future. Designers from the “Young Knitwear Designers’ Contest 2024”, including Tong Yali (Yolansa), Yip Yeung Yeung (Bicy), Li Yiu Kin (KIN), Ng Ting Kai (John) and Yau Ka Wai (Kate), were also invited to attend the event and share their design experiences.

14 February 2025 Luncheon about the updated U.S. Policy

HKKEMA has co-organized a luncheon with Hong Kong Intimate Apparel Industries’ Association (HKIAIA), The Hong Kong Shippers’ Council (HKSC), and Hong Kong Woollen & Synthetic Knitting Manufacturers’ Association (HKWSKMA) on 14 February 2025.
In this event, we invited the U.S. lawyer, Mr. Roy Delbyck, to share insights on the U.S. Policy on China.

5 December 2024 Visit to Cainiao Smart Gateway

After visiting Cainiao Network Technology Co., Ltd. (Cainiao) during the Study Mission to Zhejiang (from 24 to 27 Sep 2024), we observed a keen interest among the participants in touring Cainiao’s operations in Hong Kong. As such, a visit to the Cainiao Smart Gateway is scheduled on 5 Dec 2024.

During the visit, participants toured different floors of Cainiao Smart Gateway and held an introductory seminar to explore how Cainiao integrates logistics industry operations and internet technologies.

Thank you again for Cainiao Smart Gateway for its hospitality. We believe that this visit has deepened participants’ understanding of Cainiao Smart Gateway.

Our Chairman, Mr. Peter Hui, attended the visit and delivered an opening speech on the seminar.

24 – 27 September 2024 Study Mission to Zhejiang

The Hong Kong Knitwear Exporters & Manufacturers Association (HKKEMA), Hong Kong Woollen & Synthetic Knitting Manufacturers’ Association (HKWSKMA), The Hong Kong Shippers’ Council (HKSC), and Hong Kong Intimate Apparel Industries’ Association (HKIAIA) jointly organized a study mission to Zhejiang from 24 to 27 September 2024. The study mission visited several companies in Hangzhou and Ningbo to gain a better understanding of local development opportunities and potential partners. The study mission has successfully concluded, and we would like to thank all visited organizations and enterprises for their hospitality and arrangements.

On 24 September 2024, the study mission visited Zhejiang Xinao Textiles Inc. to tour its showroom, spinning, dyeing, and wool processing facility. The participants then proceeded to Jiaxing Huayi Co., Ltd. to visit its silk-spinning factory. Through these visits to textile enterprises in Zhejiang, the participants aimed to gain a deeper understanding of the local textile industry’s development and technology.

On 25 September 2024, the study mission visited the showroom of Cainiao Network Technology Co., Ltd. (Cainiao) and participated in a discussion to explore how Cainiao integrates logistics operations with internet technology. The participants also visited the showroom of BrainCo, Inc. (BrainCo) to learn about its developments in automation and intelligence, as well as its products. The aim was to promote automation and intelligent development within our industry.

On 26 September 2024, the study mission visited Ningbo Cixing Co., Ltd. (Cixing), where they toured the showroom and factory and engaged in networking session. Mr. Sun, the founder of Cixing, shared insights on enhancing Research and Development investment and improving after-sales service. The participants also visited various factories at Consinee Group Co., Ltd. (Consinee), including the roving yarn, novelty yarn, Ai factory. Mr. Xue, the president of Consinee, shared the company’s successful experiences in technological innovation and market expansion with the study mission participants.

On 27 September 2024, the study mission visited Youngor Group (Youngor) to explore its 5G smarty factory, gaining insights into how intelligent and automated production processes are reshaping the traditional garment industry. They also visited the brand showroom to learn about Youngor’s development history, industry layout, and brand positioning. After the visit, the participants engaged in the networking with the representatives of China National Garment Association, Ningbo Garment Association, Youngor Group, and NKM Holdings Ltd. During the networking, they actively explored new cooperation models between the Ningbo industry and Hong Kong, aiming to create a collaborative framework “guided by the government, led by enterprises, and facilitated by associations”.

We would like to express our gratitude once again to all the companies for their hospitality. We believe that this study mission has effectively deepened mutual understanding and trust between Zhejiang and Hong Kong, laying a solid foundation for potential future cooperation.
